Managment Information Systems

MIS Major

The Management Information Systems major blends the fields of business, computers, and information technology. It prepares students for some of the nation’s fastest growing career opportunities in various fields of information technology. The Management Information Systems major requires 27 hours of required classes beyond the business core in the areas of programming, management applications, database management, and information systems.

The following courses are required in the Management Information Systems major, in addition to the core business courses required in the Foster College of Business Administration, and the general education courses required by Bradley University:

MIS Major Requirements

Required courses:

One of the following sequences:

BMA 175 (Developing Business Applications) and BMA/CIS 275 (Business Applications Using Visual Basic )

or

CS 106 (Introduction to Programming) and CS 121 (Introduction to Data Structures)

 

BMA 272 (Management Applications of Personal Computers)

BMA 276 (Developing Information Systems for E-commerce)

BMA 375 (Business Systems Analysis and Design)

BMA 478 (Implementing Management Information Systems)

One of the following: *

BMA 373 (Business Data Communications )

or

BMA 374 (Database Management and Administration)

 

Two of the following: *

BMA 357 (Leadership and Interpersonal Behavior)

BMA 373 (Business Data Communications)

BMA 374 (Database Management and Administration)

BMA 378 (HCI & Usability Testing)

BMA 379 (Information Security)

 

* BMA 373 and BMA 374 cannot be counted twice to fulfill both requirements

 

Other Requirements:

MIS majors must take BMA 172 or pass the computer proficiency examination in commonly used business software.
